statistics and reporting
In TOPKAPI applications, the use of
the reporting module (Summaries) is very common. It
allows easy generation of production reports featuring
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
However, generating reports for all
data supervised cannot be considered, even though
monitoring the summary values of certain variables is
very useful to proper process monitoring.
Here are a few examples of
abnormalities deserving to be monitored:
Too frequent starting of a motor or pump, or too short
or too long operating cycles.
Running unbalance between 2 pumps presumed to work
alternately.
Running time drift.
Cyclic or random threshold exceeded on analog values.
TOPKAPI
version 5.0 includes new processing functions linked
with the SUMMARY module, allowing these summarized
calculations to be generated directly in TOPKAPI graphs.
To facilitate their use, a preset
graph object has been developed; it is available for
download on our Web site (to get access, fill in and
return the coupon at the end of this document).
Enter the reference of a variable or
select an object, and you are
3 to 5 clicks and less
than 2 seconds away from obtaining the operating
statistics of a device over one year.
These new functions make up
genuine
PRACTICAL AND ORIGINAL INNOVATION providing concrete
benefits to users of supervision systems.
By extension, these tools can also be
used to process statistics on remote management station
connections.
Calculations
on historical data
In addition to the possibilities
described in the previous paragraph, TOPKAPI version 5
allows on-the-fly generation of graphs resulting from a
calculation formula using several basic variables, e.g.
Sum up several division energy meters and compare them
with a global consumption meter.
Produce the report of the inputs-outputs of a water
network node by sectorizing to generate a leak graph.

A formula generator
has been integrated to the graph object described in the
previous paragraph.
Just select the
basic variables by clicking the appropriate objects in
the diagrams, then an interface of the "calculator" type
allows to generate the calculation formula using basic
operations and TOPKAPI’s statistical functions. The
result is then displayed as a graph.

Sectorization:
alarm by flow threshold
Leak detection by sectorizing a water network is
realized by checking that the water flow in various
measurement points reaches a minimum low limit when
consumption is at the lowest (generally by night).
While it is fairly easy in a supervisory system to
monitor a threshold and create an alarm for data
acquired in real time, this is not the same for data acquired in delayed time in the form of historical
values, as it is the case for example with remote
transmission via SMS.
To generate an alarm with TOPKAPI in this situation, you
shall use a special TOPKAPI function called OWDT.
AREAL provides a ready to use library object to
facilitate the implementation of this function. As it is
not yet incorporated in objects available for download,
please contact us to receive it.
This object supports:
The processing of flow calculations on a network node
(balance of time-stamped I / O values)
The detection of a threshold over a time range, and alarm
generation
For more information on sectorization, see file
www.areal.fr/Supervision/SECTORISATION-RESEAU-E.htm.
Version 5.1
The developments of the next version
of TOPKAPI, named V5.1, are being completed and should
be ready at the end of the year. This new version will
then move to the test and documentation phase, for
availability in the 1st half of 2012.
Among the 150+ points of functional
or ergonomic improvement, such as improved handling of
traceability of client/server and web connections, we
will mention more specifically the new scripts and
operator management.
Scripts
JavaScript has been adopted as the
new scripting language. The functions have been broadly
extended versus the older scripts (which remain
supported by ascending compatibility).
They allow for much more flexible
management of all views, particularly alarm views:
Dynamic and filtering creation functions
Link between a fault and diagram page, pop-up menu
Operators
The limitation in the number of
operators and number of categories has disappeared, the
latter having been replaced by groups.
Access rights management has been
made more flexible; discards and overwrite are added to
the notion of authorization.
In addition to end of session upon
inactivity, please note the possibility of defining
time-limited authorizations.
