Household waste incineration : HWIP in Mirail (Toulouse)

The household waste incineration plant in (HWIP) in Toulouse-Mirail is operated by LA SOCIETE D'EXPLOITATION THERMIQUE du Mirail. It comprises four furnaces and four fume treatment lines, all fitted with controllers and supervision systems.

The installation of a supervisor dedicated to the other workshops was recently performed by SPIE TRINDEL; the system comprises a TOPKAPI Vision station connected with five controllers:

	slag preparation shop
	slag storage and maturation
	dry sludge handling
	turboalternator for electricity co-generation
	EDF utility coupling medium voltage cells

The functions processed by the supervisor are particularly standard, and nothing imposed a choice. Choosing TOPKAPI Vision was based on the following quality criteria:

	easy and fast implementation
	the product openness and the Windows environment
	the functions and performances of the graphs operating module, required for the maximization of plant operation and electricity production
	fast communication with the controllers through standard serial ports (virtually instant remote command signaling feedback, compared with the dozen seconds with other products installed in similar conditions).
