CECA: control/command and batch

CECA, a subsidiary of the ATOFINA group, produces charcoal in their plant located in Parentis en Born (Landes region).
Selected at first for its quality/price ratio, Topkapi ensures the local monitoring of static ovens, as a complement to the pre-existing centralised system based on a control-command system, which manages the specific processes (SPC, regulation, etc.).
Two TOPKAPI networked stations communicate with 2 APRIL 5000 and 6 SMC35 PLCs via an Applicom board.
According to Mr Laignel, project manager, from the beginning of the project in 1994 and along the development of the automation, TOPKAPI has become a true decentralised control/command station: static and turning ovens, minglers, crushers, pneumatic transport, mixers. In the batch section in particular, we find the automated management of mixes, with products supplied from 5 hoppers to 3 mixers, as well as after-sampling adjustments and memorisation of the products introduced beforehand. The final product is then sent to various types of packaging machines (bulk, bag, big bag).

In the plant, another independent TOPKAPI station also manages a washing process.
